Back in the 70’s Bucklebury Horse Trials were held annually at New Barn Farm, sponsored by the Midland Bank, and for many years, by Croft Original.

After 10 years the event became one of the leading fixtures in the eventing calendar. 500 horses would compete over the weekend. Saturday saw five sections of Novice, while Sunday was Intermediate and Open with many famous names competing, including The Princess Royal together with her now ex-husband, Captain Mark Phillips. We also would run a one day spring event for all the Mounted Regiments, including The King’s Troop! Many of today’s fences follow the old course. 

In the 80’s New Barn Farm changed it’s farming policy, and became a pig farm – the horse trials were no more.

In 2017 we decided to go back to our roots and return to horses. Our aim today is to provide a venue where riders can not only school over 100 plus fences, up to 100cm but also spend days out enjoying Bucklebury where we have miles of off-road hacking. Easy off road rides to local pubs or use our barbecues. With the use of visitors stables, heated club room and kitchen why not bring your friends for an equine holiday.
