Bucklebury Equestrian has 2 Cross Country schooling fields which are open all the year round. There are over 80 fences from logs on the ground and varying in size up to 100cm and difficulty over undulating ground. There are cross country fences to suit all levels of horse and rider. The course length is over 1.5 kilometres. The course has been specifically designed to encourage novice horses or riders with range of jumps at 30cm, 60cm, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1m and we also offer combinations for more experienced horses and riders.
Our cross country jumps include ditches, hedges, banks, drops, trakehners, blue water complex, skinnies, tree trunks, corners, tables and novelty fences.
Our cross country schooling fields are perfect for cross country training sessions and enable instructors to supervise pupils at all times, whilst our course is ideal for those wanting a pre-event practice or clubs and organisers looking to run a hunter trial or eventing competition.
For over 17 years in the 70’s and 80’s we annually ran BHS Novice and Open Intermediate Horse Trials sponsored by the Midland Bank. Three years ago, we started to build the present ‘Schooling’ course, which follows much of the route of the ‘old’ course.
Our main training field is open all year round on very free draining sandy soil. With 40 fences it is ideal for instructors teaching groups of riders and for spectators!
The Blue Water
A new water complex has been built this year. 5 fences into the water for those who want more than to paddle.
We have 3 training ditches which have wings and are of three different widths. Further ditches can be found on the longer course.
There is an assortment of mini fences for smaller Pony Club Members, and leading rein Mums & Dads! These are also used for novice horses as an intro to XC!
A new addition for 2020. The two fences can be adjusted for height, and the combination can be jumped in both directions.
